Verified current capability

What exists now.

  • Veil and Gaze provide black or transparent input-catching overlays with explicit dismissal paths.
  • Ember requests system-only or system-and-display wake state with timeouts and opt-in lid-action handling.
  • Dusk adds click-through multi-monitor dimming and neutral, warm, blue-reduction or red filters.
  • Main window, notification-area menu, compact control centre, global shortcuts and command-line actions stay synchronised.
  • Checksum-verified GitHub updates, bounded local history and guided diagnostics preserve a reviewable path.

Explicit limits

Where it stops.

  • The current public beta has passed local gates but installed v2.3.3 and its in-app upgrade still await real-user acceptance.
  • Veil and Gaze are convenience overlays, not Windows secure-desktop replacements.
  • The zero-cost installer is unsigned and can trigger Unknown publisher or SmartScreen warnings.
  • Closed-lid management is off by default, can be blocked by policy and requires safe ventilation.
